MBV IT: Installation Technician

Responsibilities:

• Install and configure customer premise routers for FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and FTTB (Fiber to the Business) connections.
• Perform site assessments to determine optimal router placement and signal coverage.
• Connect fiber optic cables to routers and ensure proper signal testing and verification.
• Assist with troubleshooting connectivity issues and performing basic maintenance.
• Educate customers on the proper use of installed equipment and provide basic training.
• Document installation activities, including capturing installation photos, completing reports, and updating ticketing systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies during all installations.
• Maintain professional communication with customers.
• Collaborate with the technical support team to resolve network issues remotely when on-site assistance is needed.
• Keep inventory of installation equipment, tools, and consumables.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 (required).
• Diploma or Certificate in: Networking, Telecommunications or IT (advantageous).
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to drive to customer sites
