Nelson Mandela Foundation: Internship Programme 2023

The Nelson Mandela Foundation is a non-profit organisation focused on memory, dialogue, and legacy work. We are the custodian of Nelson Mandela's life and times; we are a committed facilitator of his living legacy; and we are mandated to promote his lifelong vision of freedom and equality for all.

Contract Duration: 18 months contract

Start Date: 1 April 2023.

The following Internship Opportunities are open for applications:

Human Resouces Interns

• Must hold a qualification in: Human Resources.

Dialogue & Advocacy Interns

• Must hold a qualification in the Social Sciences
• or a related qualification that you are able to motivate relates to the work of the Dialogue programme at NMF

Intellectual Property and Governance Interns

• Must hold a Law degree

CEO's Office Interns

• Humanities or Social Sciences
• or other related qualification that you are able to motivate relates to the work of the department

Communication, Marketing & Public Relations Interns

• Communications
• Journalism
• Media
• Marketing
• or relevant writing or communications experience in the NGO sector,
• or a related qualification that you are able to motivate relates to the work of the communications programme at NMF

Skills and Competencies:

• Have a demonstrable interest in human rights advocacy and constitutional issues and an interest in building a career in civil society in South Africa.
• Be able to plan, prioritise work, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Be systematic and thorough in their approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word & Excel, Facebook, website design, Instagram, Twitter, Google apps)
• Show a demonstrated ability to multi-task and ability to prioritise across multiple projects and social media platforms.
• Must be willing and able to work in teams and be a self-starter.
