City of Johannesburg: Internship Programme 2023 / 2024

 

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months. 

 

Interns will be required to sign an internship agreement, in additional to an employment contract, committing themselves to full participation in the educational and workplace assignments in accordance with laid-down policies and procedures.

 

 

The following Internship Opportunities are open for applications:

 

Business Planning and Organisation Reporting Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  • Finance
  • Social Sciences
  • Administration

Duties: Monitoring and evaluation. Coordinate regularly quarter reporting on departmental performance to Council Committees. Provide guidance, standards to Group Finance on all M&E and reporting related issues. To uphold professional standards in ensuring adequate planning for meetings during consultation phase. Timeous dissemination of information and record keeping upon delivery. This will ensure seamless communication for completion of reports in compliance with scheduled deadlines.


Stakeholder Management and Liaison Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  • Customer Relations
  • Public Relations & Communications
  • Journalism

Duties: To render and efficient and effective stakeholder management & Liaison service. Performs specific tasks /activities associated with the provision of internal communications services.


Group Risk Advisory Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  • Business Management,
  • Risk,
  • Audit,
  • Accounting
  • Health & Safety Management
  • Public Management
  • Risk Management,
  • Accounting,
  • Finance,
  • Auditing;

Duties: To assist in provision of risk advisory and embedding risk management throughout the City. Assist in the monitoring of risk management activities from a Group perspective. Assist with the implementation of an effective risk management programme.. Research


Compliance Monitoring Services Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  • Business Management,
  • Risk,
  • Audit,
  • Accounting
  • Public Management
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Compliance Management,:
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management
  • Law Degree,
  • BCom (Accounting, Audit, Law, Risk)

Duties: Assist in the development of an effective compliance management programme. Assist the city in the integration of monitoring and reporting of compliance in alignment to Mayoral priorities and key performance areas;


Internal Audit Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  • Internal Auditing
  • Accounting

Duties: Reviewing management measures to ensure effectiveness value for money and / or efficiency within the municipality. Assessing the performance of municipality programme, projects and departments, including their efficiency, effectiveness and economy, based on compliance with relevant legislation, best practices and other criteria. Assisting in developing recommendations for improvement and preparing component of the final report to various municipal oversight committees. Assist in conducting audit activities on assigned projects. Assist in the development and execution and with each projects. Assist in evaluating the results of audit and report thereon.


Public Housing Programme Interns

National Diploma / Degree in:

  1. Public Administration
  2. Business Administration
  3. Office Administration
  4. Project management
  5. Built environment

N6 in: Office Administration (for candidates who need in-service training)

Duties: Render administrative and support services to the Monitoring and Evaluation unit of the Human Settlements Department. Requisition of assets and stationary for the Monitoring and Evaluation unit. Transporting by hand of restricted performance information documents to the relevant Departments within the City.
