About the Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA)

Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is a Gauteng Provincial Government agency established to support skills development, education, and employment pathways for young people in the Gauteng City Region. The academy focuses on helping learners and graduates transition successfully from education into the world of work.

GCRA provides access to bursaries, internships, learnerships, workplace readiness programmes, and career guidance, often in partnership with government departments, SETAs, and private-sector employers. Its core aim is to reduce youth unemployment by building relevant skills, improving employability, and supporting inclusive economic growth across Gauteng.

About the GCRA Bursary 2026

Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is welcoming applications from South African students for the 2026 Bursary Programme. The GCRA bursary programme is open to all qualifying youth, with particular preference given to youth from Gauteng, who wish to study for an undergraduate or post-graduate programme (in ANY field) at an accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa. The bursary covers full cost of study, with conditions, as stipulated in the bursary contract.

Eligibility & Requirements

To Qualify for a GCRA bursary award you must be:

• A South African Citizen
• Between the age of 18 and 35 years old 
• Students intending to study an undergraduate programme and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning or is currently registered for such.
• Students who want to pursue Post-Graduate studies and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning

NB. Preference will be given to Students who completed matric and reside in Gauteng – Proof of residence required
