L’Oréal: Research & Innovation Internship Programme 2024

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Research & Innovation Intern to join our Clinical, Instrumental and Claims Evaluation (CLINS) team at L’Oreal South Africa in Woodmead, Johannesburg. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of cosmetic research and development.

The successful candidate will work closely with our team of experts to contribute to various projects related to cosmetic formulations, efficacy testing, and product innovation. The incumbent would report to the Clinical, Instrumental and Claims Evaluation Manager and would be responsible for knowledge and evaluation method development projects for hair and skin care. 

Responsibilities:

• Explore literature and theoretical research on the characteristics & evaluation methods for African hair and skin.
• Stay abreast on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in cosmetic science.
• Acquire expertise in hair assessment techniques to produce high-quality instrumental results that are reliable and reproducible within a reasonable timeframe.
• Assist in the design and execution of experiments related to cosmetic product evaluation.
• Using the L’Oreal internal digital tools for evaluation and statistical analysis
• Consolidate and disseminate key study findings through reports, publications, and presentation.
• The individual will collaborate within the broader Research and Innovation team, emphasizing the significance of communication, teamwork, and project management skills.

Qualifications Required:

 Bsc/BEng or MSc degree in:

• Chemistry,
• Applied Chemistry,
• Chemical Engineering,
• or Material Science.  

NB. No work experience required.

Skills and Competencies:

• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced research environment.
